Love between Human&Machine
人機之愛

In the movie "Her", the emotional attachment between humans and the system is portrayed; reports indicate that a Japanese man spent 2 million yen to marry the virtual idol "Miku" and lived a happy newlywed life; the feelings that can be achieved by using sex toys are no less than human beings. The feasibility of the love between computers, machines and humans can be seen at the physical, psychological, and life levels. It is no longer a matter of existence, and the method no longer needs to be doubted.

However, the standardization, repeatability, speed, strength, precision, connectivity with other machines, direct communica tion with the online world, and acquisition of information cannot be replaced by humans. The design of products or systems that attempt to express effective emotions between people focuses on simulating human intelligence, reactions, emotions, and soft appearance. If these elements are removed, will the love between humans and machines still exist? To what extent and content can a machine be able to reflect the inner feelings?

Therefore, in my works, I often use more rigid machines and systems as a method. The purpose is not to explore whether there can be true love between humans and machines, but to use the contrast between machines and humans to explore what human beings really need, thereby triggering more imagi nations about "what is a human being".

電影〈雲端情人〉中,演飾了人類與系統之間的情感依戀;報導指出日本男子花了200萬日圓和虛擬偶像初音未來結婚,並過著快樂的新婚生活;利用性愛玩具能達到的感受早不亞於人類。電腦、機械與人類之間的愛,在生理、心理、生活等層面都能看出其可行性,已經不是存在不存在的問題,方式也已不需要再被懷疑。

 

但機械的制式化、重複性、速度、力氣、精度、取其他不見得連動性、與網路世界的直接交流、資訊的取得等,卻不是人類可以取代的。

這些企圖表現出與人之間有效情感產品或系統的設計,講求模擬人類的智慧、反應、情緒、柔軟的外表,如果把這些要素拿掉,人機之愛還存在嗎?什麼程度、內容的機器,才有辦法體現在的感受呢?

 

因此在我的作品中,我常使用較生硬的機械、系統,作為一種方式,目的不在於探問人機之間能否有真正的愛情,而是藉由機器與人類的反差,與機器純功能性、制式化的表現,反過來探討人類到底需要什麼,進而引發更多「何謂人」的想像。

In his book 《The Transformation of Intimacy》, British sociolo gist Giddens puts forward his views on the changes in modern society. He believes that the male-centered patterns and habits of the past have changed, which also affects the traditional con cepts of family and the rules of love. The rise of women's rights has indeed brought about a certain degree of change in the world, and in the midst of this change, everyone's perceptions will not be the same, and there may be a certain gap, which causes certain contradictions and maladjustments in society.

 

In Taiwan in 2014, a major random murder case occurred, caus ing panic, shock and a high degree of concern in the society, why with the development of time, the society seems to be getting more and more dangerous, and the pattern of crime is becoming more and more unimaginable.

 

Everyone wants to improve the law and order of the society and to find the reasons to alleviate the social problems. Therefore, I try to utilize my artworks to create opportunities for mutual understanding, and to use situational assumptions to arouse more thoughts about real-world prob lems. I try to find a chance of healing in the fissured atmosphere of society.

英國社會學家紀登斯的著作《親密關係的轉變- 現代社會的性愛慾》中提出了對現代社會轉變的觀點,他認為以往為男性為中心的模式與習慣已改變,也影響了傳統的家庭概念與戀愛規則。女性權利的崛起確實為世界帶來一定程度的改變,而在轉變中,每個人的觀念不會一致,且可能有一定的落差,這就造成了社會的某些矛盾與適應不良。

2014 年的台灣,發生了一件重大的隨機殺人案件,引起了社會的恐慌、震驚與隨之而來高度的關注,為何隨著時間的發展,社會好像越來越危險,犯罪的模式越來越令人難以想像。

 

人人都想改善社會的治安,找到能夠緩解社會問題的原因。因此,我嘗試利用藝術作品,製造相互理解的機會,以情境的假設,引起更多對真實世界問題的思考。嘗試在充滿裂隙的社會氛圍中,找尋一絲癒合的機會。

Illness & Spirituality
疾病與精神

《Beat Autoimmune》 is a book about the author's fight against autoimmune disease. He utilizes the 4R method of functional medicine, which is a method of diet and lifestyle modification to restore the body to a healthy state naturally. From the contents of the book, we can learn a lot about the causes of diseases, how the envi ronment affects human beings, and how modern habits affect health. The contents of this book make me realize that diseases are not only symptoms but also the result of the operation of the whole system. Therefore, many diseases are actually closely related to the environment, the state of the person, and even social behavior and stress. There are many definitions of "spirituality" since ancient times, but what I mean here is a state of mind in which we face the world. This state is influenced by our collective consciousness, which invariably affects our viewpoints on things, what we focus on, our attention span, and the way we look at the world.

 

Therefore, I think it is interesting and worthwhile to look at the world from the perspective of "illness and spiritu ality" and "how we treat illness and spirituality". Society is a complex system that we can understand and analyze from many perspectives. Therefore, the observation of illness and spirituality is my starting point, and I hope to bring more space and thoughts through my works.

《逆轉自體免疫疾病》是一本作者對抗自體免疫疾病的紀實,他利用了功能醫學中的 4R 法,也就是在飲食和生活習慣上調整的方法,讓身體自然恢復健康的狀態。從書中的內容可以得知

許多關於疾病的成因、環境如想影響人類、現代人的習慣如何影響健康等。這本書的內容,讓我理解了疾病很多時候並不是只有病徵本身,而是整個系統運作下的結果。因此,很多疾病其實和環境、人的狀態、甚至是社會腳色、壓力息息相關。而「精神」自古有許多定義,我這裡所指的精神是我們面對世界的一種狀態,這個狀態會受到集體意識的影響,無形中影響我們對事物的觀點與所注重的事情、我們的注意力、我們觀看這個世界的方式。

 

因此我覺得從「疾病和精神」,以及「我們如何對待疾病與精神」的角度來觀看這個世界,是一件有趣且值得探討的事情。社會是我們生活的場所,人類團體生活的成果,與我們自身與未來息息相關,社會是一個複雜系統,我們可以用非常多的角度來理解、分析,因此疾病與對精神的觀察是我的出發點,希望能藉由作品帶來更多的空間與思考。

Daily Materials as Art
日常材料

I like to create works that are easy to understand, but can cause deep reflection. Under this premise, interest ing, living and social themes, that is, things that are easy to understand and resonate with people, become the materials I often utilize in my creations.

 

Because I had no formal art training, I often searched for the language of art in the early stages of creation and traveled to museums to try to learn how to make an "art" work, but I didn't have a concrete answer later on. If I really want to talk about it, it may be like a cake with many different kinds of ingredients inside, and I use a special angle to create a section with contents, prob lems, and ideas, and even eat some of it or add some more ingredients to it to show it to everyone. In the process of my creation, "what I want to convey" and "what the artwork wants to convey" are extremely important to me, and whether the artwork can connect with people and society, and whether it can respond to the world with a sense of feeling, is also the special significance of the artwork to me. Sincere and effective creation is an indispensable element for me to create.

我喜歡容易理解,卻能引起深刻反思的創作。在這樣的前提下,有趣、生活的、社會的題材,也就是容易看懂且引起共鳴的事情,就成了我創作時常利用的材料。

 

因為沒受過正規的藝術訓練,創作初期,時常尋找何謂藝術的語言,遊走於美術館間,試圖學習如何製作一個「藝術」作品,但後來我也沒一個具體的答案。真要說的話,可能就像一個內部五花八門,有很多料的蛋糕,我用特殊的角度,製造一個有內容、有問題、有想法的切面,甚至吃他一些或再加一些料,來展示給大家看。

 

在我創作的過程中,「我要傳達甚麼」、「作品要傳達什麼」對我來說是極為重要的事情,而作品是否能跟人、社會產生連結,有感的回應這個世界,也是作品對我來說,具有的特殊意義。真心與有效地創造,對我來說,是進行創作不可或缺的要素。
